Lessons

Shadowlane Stables offers riding lessons all year round in our indoor and outdoor arenas. We believe in a safe and fun learning environment to maximize the student’s education. Lessons are taught by Shadowlane’s experienced coaches who are dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential. Three types of lessons are offered: group, semi-private, and private. New students have introductory lessons to introduce them to Shadowlane and assess their skill level so that we can find the perfect lesson structure for them. Lessons run in sessions (listed below) and must be paid for in advance. We welcome both youth and adult riders, ages 4 and up. Shadowlane has a number of safe, quiet, and quality school horses/ponies for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. Our horses are also available for riders looking to lease or show.

New Riding Students

Shadowlane is always happy to welcome new riders to our lesson program! We accept new students of all experience levels year round. Riders new to our lesson program start off in a one-on-one introductory lesson with one of our coaches. This lesson introduces new riders to Shadowlane, while allowing our coach to asses the riders riding level and find them a suitable riding program moving forwards. After their introductory lesson, riders may continue on in private lessons or move into semi-private or group lessons once they are ready. Riders new to horseback riding will often need 4 to 8 one-on-one lessons before they are able to move into a group lesson. In order to participate in group lessons a rider must be able to safely and independently tack up, steer, walk, trot, post, and untack.

*Please note that due to overwhelming interest in our program we currently have a waiting list for new riders*

What to Bring to Your First Lesson?
Riding students need to come to their lesson wearing a long comfortable pant, boots with a heel (rubber boots tend to work well), gloves with grip or textured fingers, and a horseback riding helmet (no other types of helmet are allowed). Shadowlane provides all other riding equipment needed. New riders are also required to have a completed information and emergency contact sheet and waiver before riding, which are linked below.

Lesson Policies

Due to the new health and safety regulations we cannot offer makeups for missed lessons.
Refunds are not available for missed lessons.
Sessions may be pro-rated for riders joining in an ongoing lesson session.
Riders under 18 years of age must have supervision from a parent or guardian when on the property and not in a lesson.
Group lessons pertain to 3 or more riders. In the event that only 2 riders are able to attend a 1 hour group lesson, the lesson becomes 45 minutes long. Likewise if only one person in the lesson is able to attend the group lesson, the lesson becomes 30 minutes long.
